Living in East Los Angeles and working as a hairstylist and makeup artist in Hollywood since 2002, Chevonne Moore had a full and exciting fashion, editorial, and commercial freelance career that lent itself to world travel and exploration. When she wasn't on set, she was working at a high profile salon, Goodform of Hollywood, with a client list of industry heavyweights. In 2015 she took a break from all that to embark on her greatest, most fulfilling and proudest journey of all, motherhood.
The craft of stained glass artistry was passed on to Chevonne by her mother-in-law, Claudia Ariss. After spending weekend intensives in Claudia's glass studio in Nipomo, California, Chevonne had the passion and interest to take up stained glass classes closer to home in Los Angeles. After a year of studying under the guidance of Claudia and her LA teachers, she's now ready to start the new venture of showing her pieces. Firstly, a series called "Jupiter's Moons" aptly named for the 65 moons orbiting Jupiter.
"After having my baby and not having the daily creative outlet of hair and makeup, I found a new medium in glass that ignited an overwhelming artistic drive and excitement. Utilizing my extensive study and application in the salon working with color theory, shaping and design has greatly influenced the textures, balance, patterns and colors in my glass work."
If you don't find Chevonne in her new Portland glass studio, you may find her at Lucas Salon, practicing yoga, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, exploring Oregon on her Triumph motorcycle or settling into her new home with her wonderful husband, Zandy, daughter Sequoia and their three dogs, Jez and Mushroom and Arrow.
Materials used for all work are glass, stone, zinc, lead & copper.
